April Newsletter from Iron Realms Entertainment
Greetings from the Iron Realms! If you haven't kept
abreast of the exciting new developments in the worlds of IRE, then read on to
gain insight into the new features of each world as they continue to develop at
breakneck speed, providing more innovations each day than any other MUD you can
name!
Imperian
Imperian, as always, has been moving along at a fast clip, with several events and features arriving in the past month. Popular as ever, the recent artifact auction saw numerous attendees vying for the winning bid on any of many new and unique treasures offered by the Garden. Docent applications were also reopened, in hopes of bringing fresh creativity to Imperian's pool of player-based roleplay directors, a system which has thus far added plenty of flavor to day-to-day life in Aetherius. Meanwhile, straight out of development, the classlead system saw an overhaul to make it more accessible for everyone; with the REPORT command it's now possible to check in and see exactly what exciting changes are being planned for the various classes! Also, as an expected update, the guild charter system has seen extensive use with new class organizations cropping up regularly in the councils and cities of the world. With that, Imperian plans to keep up the pace with its customary flair and innovation, so expect more great things on the horizon!
Achaea
The month of February in Achaea unfolded many exciting events from large to small. Unquenchable fires raging in the central forests of Sapience were found to originate from a massive, bizarre firefly, whose eventual capture brought the conflagrations to an end. The House of the Crystalline Circle rescued their House tutor Ariela from deep within the Dreamrealm. They were aided in this by the mysterious nightmare spirit Erinyes, who extracted a promise for future assistance in return for her guidance. The first-ever Festival of Light premiered in Shallam, celebrating the many facets of the city known as the Jewel of the East. In addition to these and other storylines large and small that manifested over the course of February, we have created a flexible natural syntax custom emote system that allows for multiple targets. The system is based around the command TMOTE, and along with our increased focus on roleplay events, is intended to improve Achaea's potential and support for interactive storytelling.
Lusternia
Nexus Worlds just got more interesting in Lusternia with the release of the Construct/Colossus Battle System. New skills in every trade class allow for either building a colossus to attack the constructs of cities and communes or upgrading constructs and colossi with special attacks or defenses. Astrologers also gained a new skill which predicts when Nexus Worlds weaken and thus when colossi can do battle with constructs. While battles take place, players combat on the ground to help position themselves and influence the outcome. Soon, aethercraft will join the fray with the ability to bombard constructs and colossi from aetherspace.
Aetolia
The dark land of Aetolia is in the midst of an expansive upgrade, the administration already having rectified hundreds of bugs and design issues with the few remaining set to be quickly squashed. Over on the class front, the guild-assigned liaisons are furiously preparing for the promised round of skill improvements - over four hundred suggestions and counting - which has always proven a boon to Aetolia's denizens. In the meantime the Reanimation skillset has since undergone its own general redesign, marked with simpler production and curing methods; thus far they've shown to be a great relief to those of the undead persuasion. Finally, shops have received several welcome enhancements themselves, including shelving to streamline organization and five hundred item stockrooms. Needless to say, Aetolia's taken to Spring cleaning a little early, and without a hitch at that.
If you're looking for information about our games, you can read about them
individually on the game websites or on my blog, The Forge. You can also learn more about our games in development: Midkemia and Earth Eternal. Until next month, enjoy!
