Attacking and Destroying Icons
------------------------------
House Icons may be attacked and weakened by use of a method based on the
leadership system already in use (formerly used to gain soldiers). Recruiting
using the leadership system will result in gaining specialist followers called
Alchemists. These Alchemists will only be useful for attacking, and only
attacking Icons. (See section on Leadership Implications below.)

Every time an Icon is damaged, it sends out a notice on the House main channel
indicating that it has been damaged.

To stop Icon attacks, kill the specialists (the Alchemists). Alchemists, being
only useful in attacking Icons, are of no use in attacking other Alchemists or
other enemy adventurers.

PK, Cause, etc.
---------------
The plane of Nishnatoba is designated as FREE PK. Anyone on the plane may
freely attack one another without further roleplay reason, and the conflict
does not carry over once off the plane.

Infamy
------
Infamy is not gained for any combat within Nishnatoba - the plane where the
True Icons may be found.

Only True Icons
---------------
Only True Icons, all of which exist only on the Plane of Nishnatoba, may be
damaged/attacked (or strengthened, for that matter). Shadow Icons may not be
damaged or attacked in any way, excepting this one case: Shadow Icons are
destroyed when their corresponding True Icon is destroyed.

Icon Damage
-----------
The maximum rate of damage when attacking Icons is fairly low. It takes a long
time to destroy an Icon, during which the Icon will regularly notify the House
of the ongoing damage. Multiple attacking Alchemists does increase the rate of
damage, but again, only to a fairly low limit. Having more than about four
Alchemists does not increase the rate of damage.

Successful Icon attacks will weaken the Icon and will produce some Iconic
Shards as well (which may then be used as any other Iconic Shard to strengthen
any Icon).

Icon Phase
----------
An Icon can only be damaged when it is in phase, which is likely to be only 1
day in each month, give or take a little for the vagaries of the underlying
cycle of Nishnatoba. If you attack and don't do any damage, then the Icon is
not in phase, and you are out of luck. More details in HELP ICON PHASE.

Offence and Defence Compared
----------------------------
Offence: accomplished via Alchemists gained through the Leadership system.
Defence: requires no assistance.
It may be accomplished by any adventurer with Iconic shards that
completes an attempt to STRENGTHEN the True Icon.

Attacker: Time to Destroy an Icon - Under an Achaean Day
--------------------------------------------------------
The most effective attack, with the maximum number of Alchemists involved, and
without interruption, strengthening, or attenuation of any kind will, as of
this writing, reduce a full-power Icon to rubble completely destroying it in
from half to slightly under a full Achaean day.

Defender: Time to Increase an Icon - Four Achaean Days
------------------------------------------------------
A single person strengthening an Icon could take an Icon from zero power to
full in about four Achaean days assuming average values for the Iconic shards
used.

Note: more than one person can be strengthening an Icon at any time.

Leadership Implications
-----------------------
Cassandra, the healer-priestess of Vastar, Ixtahuitl, Shaman of the Khish, and
A'leess, Oracle of the Iriluawe and Maklak, the Ice Wizard will provide
leadership testing.
