3.2 The SAY command
The most common way to speak to another player is to use the SAY
command. The syntax for this command is SAY <what you want to say>. For
instance you might type, if Varian was in the room with you: say Hi
there Varian. My You're looking particularly impressive today! (This is
always a good way to gain brownie points with Him.)
The SAY command can be abbreviated with a ' or a ". So, for instance,
you could simply do: 'Hi there Varian. My You're looking particularly
impressive today!
Again, we emphasise that complimenting Varian is an excellent and
rewarding pastime. Just think of all the fun you can have, coming up
with bright and shiny NEW ways to compliment Him! Yes indeed, hours of
fun!
Directing Speech
----------------
It is possible to speak directly to somebody. Simply:
say to Severn You are simply the greatest!
or
sayto Severn You are simply the greatest!
Both of these will produce:
Haern, the Hunter says to Severn, the Manipulator, "You are simply the greatest!"
You can also speak to those sitting around a table, with:
sayhere Be quiet! I'm trying to eat.
Which would produce, to those at the table:
Haern, the Hunter says to the others at a dining table, "Be quiet! I'm
trying to eat!"
Custom Speaking Styles
----------------------
You may also customize your speech by adding a qualifier after the say
command in parenthesis, for example:
say to Varian (in a threatening tone) I demand cheaper credits!
Those in the room would see: In a threatening tone, Galleus says to
Varian, "I demand cheaper credits!"
Speaking Emotions
-----------------
By adding certain smilies on the end of your says you can change the way
you say something, for example:
say Khepri, You're so funny! :D
would produce:
You laughingly say, "Khepri, You're so funny!"
Arion, God of Valor laughingly says, "Khepri, You're so funny!"
