Forgetting Professions - Imperian Online Help

8.22 Forgetting Professions

If you decide you no longer wish to retain a previous profession you can forget
it. If you forget a profession, you will not be able to switch back to it,
unless you join a specialized guild or are apprenticed again.

Before you can forget a profession you must switch to another profession or
switch to no profession. If you are in a guild which specializes in that
profession you must quit the guild. You cannot forget the profession of a guild
you are a member of.

If you have not already earned the profession rank of Journeyman, then this is
all you will have to do. You will receive lessons for forgetting the skillsets
associated with that profession, unless those skillsets are shared with another
profession you may have knowledge in.

As a Journeyman or higher you will have to FORGET <profession> and then AGREE.
Once forgotten you will receive 50% of your lesson back from the profession
skillsets, unless those skillsets are shared with another profession you may
know.

If you are a Journeyman or higher and you forget a profession and then the next
profession that you immediately learn has shared skills with the profession
that you are forgetting, the shared skills will be set at approximately half of
their previous skillrank in the new profession. However, the "lessons learned"
in your new profession will be set at 0, so the next time you forget these skills,
you cannot get extra lessons.

For example:

Bob is a Deathknight. He's tired of the demonic stain on his soul, and wishes
to convert to a Templar. He's Transcendent in all of his guild skills. When he
forgets the Deathknight profession, he will gain approximately 2600 lessons for
forgetting the profession. If he next learns the Templar profession (without
learning or forgetting any other professions first), his skill ranks in
Chivalry (similar enough to Brutality) and Smithing will be Virtuoso.
