8.5 APPOINTED POSITIONS WITHIN A GUILD

The elected officers of the guild make several appointments. Guildmembers
can hold multiple appointed positions. Only members of the city or commune
connected to the guild are eligible to be appointed to these positions.

The Guild Administrator may appoint:
   - Undersecretaries
   - Archivists
   - Collegium Teachers

The Guild Champion may appoint:
   - Protectors

The Guildmaster may appoint:
   - Secretaries (from Undersecretaries)
   - Security (from Protectors)

The Guild Administrator may remove people from any office that he or she
can appoint, in addition to Secretaries who do not meet his or her approval.
The Guild Champion may remove Protectors and Security who do not meet with
his or her approval. The Guildmaster may only remove Secretaries and
Security.

Thus, there is a system of checks and balances between the three offices
in the capacity of appointing guild officers.

In addition to guild leadership positions, it is also within the Guildmaster's ability to appoint a patron for the guild.
