19.10.7 CUSTOM BEASTS (pets)
(see also: HELP BEASTMASTERY) Various fauna found throughout the Basin of Life can be trained to become loyal companions by adventurers skilled in the Dracnari art of Beastmastery. HELP BEASTMASTERY explains the process involved in rearing and training creatures that can be purchased from shops scattered across the land. --------------- BEAST ARTIFACTS --------------- Collar of the Dracnari Beastmasters: 250 credits - ATTACH <collar> TO <beast that is loyal to you> - Capable of learning an additional 100 trains above an average beast - Can never be deleted; permanent level 12 - Does not pay stable fees. - Makes the beast reset to your stable every 18 hours. Can never be killed permanently. * NOTE: Trading in this artifact will destroy the mount. There is * * no upgrade, even if you want another collar--there is a 50% * * credit fee on such a trade-in. * * NOTE: This artifact may be used exactly once and no longer * * exists after it is used. It may not be removed or transferred, * * NOTE: You can convert a collared beast to a pet with a full * * 250cr credit to the pet price (i.e., can convert into a full pet * * for 250cr). TURNING YOUR COLLARED PET INTO A CUSTOM BEAST WILL * * REMOVE ITS INHERENT ABILITIES BUT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO REDESCRIBE * * IT AT NO EXTRA COST. * Zimoru Reagent (dose): 3 credits - BEAST ADMINISTER <reagent> - Transforms how an adult beast appears based on the beast's diet. - Can only be used on adult beasts. - One use only! - DISCLAIMER: Transforming your beast is completely random and you may end up with the same look as it had before. Sometimes it may be that based on your beast's diet that there could be a high likelihood that it will transform in one particular way. Zimoru Reagent (syringe): 225 credits - BEAST ADMINISTER <reagent> - Transforms how an adult beast appears based on the beast's diet. - Can only be used on adult beasts. - Usable once per Lusternia month. - DISCLAIMER: Transforming your beast is completely random and you may end up with the same look as it had before. Sometimes it may be that based on your beast's diet that there could be a high likelihood that it will transform in one particular way. Wackodoru Reagent: 10 credits - BEAST ADMINISTER <reagent> - This makes a beast forget all he has learned so he can be trained anew. **NOTE: This means you need to retrain him from scratch.** - Can only be used on adult beasts. - One use only! Kikikoru Reagent: 25 credits - BEAST ADMINISTER <reagent> - This will permanently add 25 extra trains to your beast. - One use only! - Stackable up to 10 doses (i.e., cannot use over 10x on one beast). Iyamoru Reagent: 10 credits - BEAST ADMINISTER <reagent> - Instantly switch the sex of the beast to which it is administered. - Some beasts, like a nightmare only come in one opposite sex. Iyamoru cannot be used on those beasts. - One use only! Beastmaster Chemistry Set: 40 credits - Allows the owner to instantly provide custom nutrient blends for their beasts. - Specifically, grants the ability to instantly set all feed stats to particular ratios, which allows immediate ability to administer the maximum number of train reagents (bodoru, mindoru, suporu), as well as setting the dominant feed type in each category for purposes of description selection. - Uses the CHEMSET command. Beastmaster Whistle: 450 credits - Summons beast from any plane (including aetherspace). - Halves time to summon. Golden Riding Crop: 500 credits - Allows owner to train any of his or her beasts for a minor breath blast of divinus damage. - Costs 100 trains. - Can train as many beasts as one wants, but must own the whip for the beast to use the ability. Black Beastmaster's Whip: 500 credits - Allows owner to train any of his or her beasts for a minor breath blast of excorable damage. - Costs 100 trains. - Can train as many beasts as one wants, but must own the whip for the beast to use the ability. ------------- CUSTOM BEASTS ------------- Pets are considered advanced beasts which can be used just like any beast used in the Beastmastery skillset. They can be customized and are loyal to a particular player. (For denizens who reside in manses and ships, see HELP MANSE DWELLERS.) Custom beasts must make sense as beasts (i.e., not humanoid beings or other creatures that would be inappropriate as beasts) that you could (at least) be able to ride. The basic price is 500 credits. (THESE MUST BE BOUND!) Which gets you: - The pet itself (including fully custom descriptions and name). - As a beast, can be retrained once per game month (for Beastmastery). - As a beast, can learn an additional 200 trains above an average beast. - Can never die; permanent level 13 - Does not pay stable fees. - The ability to order it to move about via tells. - The ability to order it to follow you. - The ability to order it to enter your inventory. NOTE: Collared beasts may be converted into a pet and receive a 250cr credit to the pet price (i.e., can convert into a full pet for 250cr). COLLARED BEASTS WILL LOSE THEIR INHERENT POWERS BUT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO REDESCRIBE IT AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. *SPECIAL:* Guild beasts CAN retain their special guild powers for an extra 75cr fee. You may also purchase guild powers for 75cr on a custom beast. THESE POWERS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE THE APPROPRIATE GUILD SKILL. Beyond this, you may purchase add-ons, either at the time of buying the pet or any time afterwards. For 900 (BOUND!) credits, you can get a pet with the phoenix inherent ability, sentience, 150 trains worth of any other inherent abilities, plus five reactions. TRADEIN ------- Pets may not be traded in at all - no tradein value, no refunds, no exchanges. Be sure that you want any pet you purchase, because it will be yours for a very long time! ADD-ONS (THESE MUST BE BOUND): -------- 1) Phoenix - 150 credits - If your pet dies, you can resummon it in 10 minutes (rather than 60 minutes) at full health, mana and ego. This is an investible power only available to custom beasts. 2) Sentience - 150 credits - Order your pet to speak and emote, pre-defined and custom emotes. 3) Inherent Beastmastery Abilities - *special* - You can purchase inherent beast abilities at the cost of 1cr/train needed for a pet. For example, riding (able to mount) costs 10 trains, and thus would cost 10 credits to make inherent. Flying costs 100 trains and thus would cost 100cr to make inherent 4) Reactions - 25 credits each (expensive because they are a pain for us) - These are described below 5) custom attack message - 300 credits. Your pet's attack will have a custom appearance in the form we call an 'oact'. Oacts may not change the damage type or amount. Multiple oacts may be combined to give the pet various attacks. Each added oact is also 300 credits. - This ONLY counts for basic attacks as a battlebeast. 6) mailing pet - 75 credits. Your pet will deliver mail for you. 7) delivery pet - 100 credits. This is mostly a flavor skill that allows your pet to deliver an item to a person who is online. The syntax is "DELIVER TO <player>". You need to provide the following custom texts: A) Pet owner's location, everyone sees: With a grin PET takes ITEM and bounds away to delivery it. B) Delivery target would see: PET bounds in and hands you ITEM, then bounds away again. C) Delivery target, everyone else would see: PET bounds in and hands ITEM to TARGET, then bounds away again. D) Pet owner's location when pet returns. PET bounds in and smiles with a job well done. 8) retriever pet - 100 credits. This is mostly a flavor skill that allows your pet to retrieve items from a person who is online. The syntax is "GO TO <player>". The pet will return when that person gives your pet an item. You need to provide the following custom texts: A) Pet owner's location, everyone sees: With a grin PET bounds away to TARGET. B) Retrieval target would see: PET bounds in and looks at you expectantly. C) Retrieval target, everyone else would see: PET bounds in and looks expectantly at TARGET. D) Retrieval target, after giving an item to pet: PET takes ITEM from you and bounds away. E) Retrieval target, after giving an item, everyone else would see: PET takes ITEM from TARGET and bounds away. F) Pet owner's location when pet returns: PET bounds in with ITEM clamped firmly in its jaws. Reactions are responses to various 'events'. An event is something that happens that causes the pet to respond. The events they may respond to are: - Being asked something (by the owner, a certain player, or any player) - Being attacked - Being greeted - Being given something - Being told something (by the owner, a certain player, or any player) - Death (at the very moment) - Dying (hurting bad, not dead yet) - Entry of a given player - Exit of a given player - Hearing something any player says (or only a certain player) - Random (this means it just goes off randomly) The things that denizens can do in response to these events are: - Say things - Do standard emotes - Do room emotes. A room emote is essentially sending out any text whatsoever to the room (the name of the denizen isn't in the results, as with a normal emote). - Move in a direction - Follow someone - Tell someone something - Give someone something (provided that the denizen is holding it) So, for instance, you could have your pet automatically run over and pee on your worst enemy's foot when he/she enters the room. Or you could have your pet attack someone if someone gives it your dead body. Use your imagination keeping in mind the lists above. You can also choose to purchase reactions using reaction slots as mentioned in HELP MOBILEREACTIONS. REQUESTING A PET ---------------- To request a pet, send an e-mail to email@example.com detailing what you want your pet to be called and what its description should be. Include any special features you want to purchase. We need the name (either generic, like 'dog' or more specific, like the actual pet's name; a short description, a long description, an extended description, plus what you see when the pet is dead, when it enters a location, and when it leaves a location. For example: Name: Andryk Short: Andryk, the dog Long: Andryk, the dog is here, whimpering quietly. Extended: (what is seen if you look directly at the pet. Multiple sentences.) Enter: Wagging his tail, Andryk, the dog comes in from the $DIR. Leave: Andryk, the dog, perks up his ears and bolts off to the $DIR. Death: Faithful dog Andryk's lifeless corpse lies here. PET COMMANDS ------------ Aside from the commands in HELP MOBILES, the following will apply to your pet. You will need to use either the pet's name or the name plus its unique ID number to send it tells. Using the number alone will not work. BEAST RETRAIN [ALL] - This will clear all the non-inherent skills of the beast and allow you to retrain new skills. - The ALL option will also clear all trains from the beast. You WILL have to use reagents to regain the trains. - You may only retrain your beast once per game month. SAY FOLLOW ME, <pet name> - Makes your pet follow you. SAY CLIMB UP, <pet name> - Makes your pet climb up into your inventory. TELL <pet name> MOVE <northeast/southwest/in/out/up/etc> - Make your pet walk in a direction. (no direction abbreviations, please) TELL <pet name> COME TO ME - Teleports your pet into your inventory. - Will NOT remove a pet from a stables. FOR MOUNTABLE PETS ------------------ MOUNT <pet> - Mount your pet. DISMOUNT <pet> - Dismount your pet. SPUR <pet> SKYWARDS - Your pet flies to the skies with you on its back. FOR SENTIENT PETS ----------------- TELL <pet> EMOTE <xx> - any built-in emote, like nod, or weep. TELL <pet> EMOTE EMOTE <xx> - any free-form emote. TELL <pet> SAY <whatever> - pet will say whatever you want. LOYALS ------ Loyals, loyal entities, mounts, and so forth, are not pets, and may not be customised. They are much like pets in many ways, but they are different, mainly in that all this great pet customisation doesn't work for them!
