12.5.2 THE TAINTED PLANE OF NIL
Once upon a time, this plane was called Shallamar but was the first plane
to be corrupted by the Taint. The great benevolent beings who ruled there
were twisted and are now known as the Demon Lords of Nil. Frequently
fighting among themselves, they rule over hordes of grotesque demonic
creatures. The Demon Lord who has managed to keep the upper hand is
Supreme Master Luciphage, whose exceedingly charming facade covers an
utterly cold and calculating heart. His rule over the other Demon Lords of
Nil is predicated not on his vast, dark powers, but rather his patient
ruthlessness. The guardians of Nil are the Nihilists, who often emulate
this style.
