Your knowledge of a skill is ranked from Inept (the least knowledgeable)
up to Transcendent (the most knowledgeable possible). Here is the order
of the skill ranks:

   Inept
   Novice
   Apprentice
   Capable
   Adept
   Master
   Gifted
   Expert
   Virtuoso
   Fabled
   Mythical
   Transcendent

The difficulty of raising your skill rank from one level to another
increases exponentially as your skill rank rises.
