What Winter Keeps

What Winter Keeps

The world is coated in white
And is lulled into restless sleep
Darkness rules over the light
And we hope the price isn't steep

The cold comes to claim and reap
With impunity and pockets deep
It cares not for your treasure heap
All it wants, it takes and keeps

All we can do is wait and hope
And fend off the darkness if it comes
Courage! It does not do to mope
Stand straight and do not succumb

Be proud, resist and do not weep
We will not be what winter keeps

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Miraman, in the year 612 AF.
