Whispers of Night

Soft--
Listen, now, for the wandering whisper of Night
Amid the dreams that flutter
and take flight from troubled minds.
Her silver laugh--so distant,
So fair and far above all mortal ken.
Graceful as the shadow's dance between the trees,
As sifted moonlight upon the hallowed grave.

Careful, now, of the wandering whisper of Night
Whose gentle voice beckons the heart
to paths beyond the mind.
Winds of thought unfettered: incongruous,
Inconceivable, yet all at once--
A secret soul unveiled.

Tread softly now, for the mysteries of Midnight
Play upon the made and mad alike
A Mistress, capricious and precise,
who weaves all that the soul
would hide from Light.

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Aeguary, in the year 626 AF.
