Awakenings

Have you ever felt like you lost it all?
Unfamiliar,
unforgiving,
open your eyes and reality blurs.
Your body feels numb,
your skin feels foreign,
and everything around you
seems like a nightmare.

Have you ever known you never belonged?
Lost causes,
dead weight,
blink once and the truth vanishes.
Where are my hands,
where is my heart,
where are my friends,
nobody's home.

Have you ever held the world in your hands?
Immortal,
Immaculate,
those were the good old days.
All reigns must crumble,
all crowns must rust,
all smiles must fade,
down to oblivion.

Have you ever questioned why you wake?
Escape,
fulfillment,
it doesn't matter.
When you left or why,
what you left behind
where you are going,
you're still home.

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Lupar, in the year 626 AF.
