Heart of Stone

My heart is a stone in my chest
It should not be that way
My heart is still young,
a place where love should stay

A stone can go on when fields dry
Perhaps that is the only way
The wind can take the soil
And leave the stone to lay

Where are my sweet companions
Boon partners of younger days
My ears strain to hear them
Only echoes and they fade

Maybe soon a flow will pass
that turns the stone to clay
with which to form a vessel
a place where love could stay

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Glacian, in the year 630 AF.
