Ruins to Gold

Foxtrot with manticores,
Slipping between their wings,
Echoes on ballroom floors
The walls have diamonds glittering.
I close my eyes and
How can you not hear?
Hear all the orchestra in deaf ears.

Daydream every day away
Daydream of a better way
Don't let the blood and gore
Dirty up that face

Each cavern mouth to me
looks like a golden gate.
Life isn't easy but
as long as we can stargaze,
Despite how bruised I feel
my hands are as clean as my face.
Just close my eyes,
I can see these are happy days

The sharks and I tango
In New Hope's sapphire bay,
Romantic tropicals-
They sweep a girl away.
A waltz with panthers
With well groomed silver coats.
A princess fairytale no one ever wrote.

Daydream all the blood away
Daydream just to keep me sane
These castles in my head
Are where I feel most safe

Asylum halls to me,
look like a palace of dreams
And every time I hear
a shout or yell or shrill scream
I tell myself that it's
an eagle crying, flying free
And where you see darkness,
It's shining gold that I see.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Aeguary, in the year 637 AF.
