This poem is dedicated to a dear friend of mine who I shall not name. Sorry but privacy, y'know?

A gem among the blood and mud
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Through a mix of blood and mud we trudge.
Our lives in the hands of the Almighty Judge.
We march for war, we march for the call.
When we finally meet our enemy, upon their swords we fall.
A day later, few have survived, I am among them.
Yet another day passes and in the mud and blood, I find a gem.
A gem with eyes of shining sea-green and beautiful brown hair.
I looked at this gem and thought, "Nothing could be more fair."
I was rather smitten and so was unbelievably bold.
I took the beautiful gem home and gave it a band of gold.
A moment I shall remember as eternally as the most tender.
Making this lovely gem mine and me hers, forever.
Penned by my hand on the 10th of Sarapin, in the year 646 AF.
