A poem

Shadows in my life

I sit here another shadow in a well lit place
Everyone with a smile plastered on their face
Don't know who to trust can't trust anyone
I worry that they will blink and life will be done

Sorrow filled I sit here not the only one
Noone knows the things I have done
Wishing for some true company
And yet I am afraid of the things that may be

To hurt to let anyone in
My heart shatters at the drop of a pin
No one to offer me their hand and say it's all right
Cant find the energy to continue this fight

Now I am laying down waiting for the end
If only I had just one true friend
Pulse quickens as I hear your footfalls
Yet you pass me by in these too bright halls

No excuse not to see my pain
Though I look remarkably sane
My heart dies every time you walk by
without taking the time to even say Hi!

No excuse is good enough for what you have done
For you let Death and I become one
I blame you for not reaching out a hand
My heart dies like a fish on the sand

If only you had taken a moment to check on me
But no you were doing your own thing, too busy
A shadow in the background I am no more
Perhaps you should of opened your door

Who will miss a shadow in the winter
Who will miss the one whose heart did splinter
No one will miss me as I fade away
They will forget I was there in a day.

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Scarlatan, in the year 649 AF.
