A Search

In icy Vashnars, cold and stark,
I search long and hard for my love.
The ground gives way, my gaze goes dark,
I'm in a cave, ringed by light from above.

As I stand up, my courage shrinks,
But I push deeper inside the dank cave.
I pull out a torch, then light it and think,
"Will this cavern now be my grave?"

In the darkness, echoing now,
There comes a hellish scream.
I run to a voice like my love's and vow,
"I'd give anything to make this a dream."

A beast from my nightmares leaps from the black.
Fangs stained with the blood of my love.
It strikes, my head hits the ground with a crack.
I scream as it bites through my glove.

And now in Death's halls, cold and stark,
I search long and hard for my love...

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Chronos, in the year 660 AF.
