Migrant Birds

Let cold winds blow in desolation
Upon this blighted ground
Leave all things to desecration
My heart is safe and sound

All bird's know the price of winter
The trip they must partake
Through vast oceans--they cannot linger
They leave nothing in their wake

Warmer climes, a place to rest
And food to give them fill
A hearth awaits, a peaceful nest
Across the farthest hill

And then one day, the sun will rise
And winter will leave his throne
And birds once more will fill the skies
When they remember they have a home

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Daedalan, in the year 666 AF.
