The first of the three poems for my poetry finale in the Virtuosi house.

THE BUTTERFLY WARNING (Villanelle)

If you die with butterflies in your net
They will escape and fly into the sky
You will forever be in Vellis' debt

You could be the best that we ever met
But your catching technique won't look so sly
If you die with butterflies in your net

Here is a good tip on which you can bet
When you hold a butterfly net and die
You will forever be in Vellis' debt

My words are much more than an idle threat
You can kiss those elusive flyers bye
If you die with butterflies in your net

When they escape you have reason to fret
The gold that you lost makes you want to cry
You will forever be in Vellis' debt

Although in a day, another you'll get
To catch butterflies for the head net guy
If you die with butterflies in your net
You will forever be in Vellis' debt

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Sarapin, in the year 671 AF.
