This is a FREE VERSE SONNET and its rhyme scheme is like this: ABAB CDCD EFEF GGG. It is inspired by the time Perl took all the Recruits out on the rivers, and they got swept up by the currents.

Perl made me say this is not based on true events.

RIVER CURRENTS, a Free Verse Poem by Madelyne

The rapid river waters are swirling.
On a house mission to find a poet,
Recruits and Affiliates went twirling.
The currents got them, wouldn't you know it.

Lyaeus the bard sat waiting alone.
Tired of stalling, he went to Ashtan.
In the Fire and Ice he played a sad tale
To folks as clean as a humgii's trashcan.

When he was done he went off to Cyrene
Where ice and snow covered the area.
While the citizens were nice and pristine,
They greeted him with mass hysteria.

"DO NOT DARE GOSSIP!" The Senators said.
If you do we will pike your Satyr head.
Our artists are in the river, all dead.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Sarapin, in the year 671 AF.
