Friendly Chess Match

As the pieces begin to move
And the world becomes a square
Each piece strives to find and prove
That their placement is unfair

Be you pawn, queen, or rook
You will always look up high
At those roles that you forsook
Then despair and wonder why

Why did you work so hard
In a world of black and white
Why did you strive so far
And believe your cause was right

But Thoth's scythe now falls upon you
And you best go forth in stride
For now your game is through
And that game is changing tide

For colour's an illusion
And your roles never mattered
For reality is delusion
And now that world is shattered

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Valnuary, in the year 691 AF.
