Self-reflection

I stood before the wretched liar,
and shook with boiling rage.
In his eyes there danced a fire,
a glee I could not gauge.

Emotions high and running wild,
grimace pulling back my lips,
I watched the man act like a child,
laughter leaving welts like whips.

And in my state of rage and wrath,
I'm quite ashamed to say,
I struck the man stood in my path,
hoping he'd go away.

What I found gave me a fright,
for when I had stepped nearer,
I saw a million rays of light
trapped in a broken mirror.

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Phaestian, in the year 705 AF.
