Never stronger, the mood for love

Wafting thru the twilight streets
Is magic mingled in the dimming air
Shadows deepen, the world retreats
A time to gather and rest one's care

And so they met on such a night
Where stars sparkle and bright moon shines
In silliest things they found delight
Laughing, smiling, they missed all signs

For the evening spell has taken hold -
Eyes bright, strangers, by the fire light
With faces softened and hearts remold
They held each other in tender sight

Never stronger, the mood for love
Never more delightful should two makes one
Never so full, the heart's only berth
Never as certain on Desire's want

But then the night soon began to turn
And the sun creeps up the eastern sky
Too soon, too soon, all else return
This night's magic, they've come to deny

With spell broken and day in place
The head began its practised whirl
Night's veil raised now from wakeful face
The eyes see again a coloured world

So boy and girl with sidelong glance
Beholds the other for the very once
Feeling foolish, with naught to say
They shared a smile and each go their way

.. The magic is gone but not for long
For sun may reign but soon must part
It hides, it waits, it weaves its song
To lure once more, the lonely heart

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Aeguary, in the year 709 AF.
