Saving Yourself

I gather endless flowers for your grave,
fire orchids for the once blazing flame,
a black lily for what we couldn't save,
an emerald orchid for the recent dame.

Ashes for me to rise proudly from,
with this shovel I bury the shame,
rejoicing with a bottle of rum,
a perfect ending to this horrific game.

Like wildflowers in the breeze I'm free,
farewell to the gurgles of sinking,
in your shipwreck on stormy seas,
I said goodbye without even blinking.

Token of Charybdis takes me to shore,
I kiss the sands, they taste so sweet,
I couldn't take the waves anymore,
my escape is a bittersweet treat.

My favorite part of this insightful tale,
everyone loves a happy ending,
be very careful with who you sail,
blood sucking leeches are good at blending.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Phaestian, in the year 710 AF.
