Regarding the Plague and a Chalkboard

Sapience,

In response to the plague that has spread from Umbrin, Captain Maelstrom has erected a chalkboard in order to keep a record of which ships and harbours are infected and require curing. This chalkboard should be consulted before you cast off from any harbour: if you're having difficulty finding it, it's near Tasur'ke's harbour. Just WALK TO MAELSTROM!

If your crewmates aren't showing symptoms of plague, it would behoove you to avoid the harbours listed on the chalkboard. If your crewmates ARE showing symptoms of plague, restricting yourself to the harbours listed on the chalkboard will help prevent the plague from spreading. Only four people are capable of adding or subtracting to the chalkboard:

Kinilan Demaxx
Oceana Dawyn
Taraus Bravi'os

This chalkboard needs to be as up to date as possible. How do you make sure this chalkboard is up to date? GLAD YOU ASKED. If you have or know of a ship with a plagued crew, contact myself or one of those mentioned above via tells or messages. If you have personally see plague symptoms (coughing, fever, sweating, general ickiness) at a harbour that isn't on the chalkboard, let us know about it. We are capable of curing the plague, though we are limited in its supply, but we cannot help a ship's crew when we don't know that they're ill!

Regarding the cure: the primary ingredient is taken from a being known as the Sargassum, a twisted sea monster consisting of rancid seaweed and undead corpses that is passive until attacked. Unless you are (1) in clear communication with the Pirates of Meropis or The Sefyric Mariners Guild and (2) willing to regularly submit your ship, your time, and your energy toward hunting them regularly, engaging the Sargassum is not recommended. Those who attack, and are attacked by, the Sargassum are infected with plague, and only one tangle of seaweed is usually found on every ship that participates in attacking the creature, if a tangle is found at all. This means that Captains who are willing to attack Sargassum in one ship (and remain infected) regularly and in groups will be able to gather the most cure for the plague. The only other cure is taking the plagued ship out to sea and sinking it.

Bear in mind that a ship or a harbour may be re-infected after being cured of plague - it is a blight that affects sailors and pirates alike. Only by working in tandem can we wipe this plague from our people like excrement from a boot.

If you've any questions or concerns, I invite you to speak with members of The Sefyric Mariners Guild or the Pirates of Meropis.
