Greetings everyone,

The Achaean Heraldry Association would like to announce our winners for the Heraldry contest. We had several favorable submissions from a number of people. However, there was a very close race between first and second place between Sully Le'Dominae and Ehene Jinx. After much deliberation, we came to a decision.

The winner of the competition is Ehene Jinx with the following design and explanation, both of which were exceptional:

The arms of Ehene: Per chevron Azure and Sable, a lozenge Or and a pair of rapiers in saltire.

In modern Achaean: A gold diamond-shape and a pair of rapiers crossed diagonally, on a blue and black background divided in two by a chevron-shaped line.

The reason I chose those colours is threefold: they represent my city, they represent aspects of myself, and they look good together. Blue and black represent Hashan and the azure fog of the Sunderlands. Gold represents prosperity, generosity, and a higher frame of mind or thought, all aspects of Hashan.

Blue represents truth, sincerity, and loyalty; black represents consistence, knowledge and hard work, and sadness or grief; and gold I have already explained. Each of these characteristics can be found in my own personality.

Personally, I think gold looks good on blue, and it draws a nice contrast against black as well. The geometry of the arms is also rather nice; the lines and angles of the lozenge fit nicely with those of the chevron and the position of the rapiers.

The lozenge itself is symbolic of protection, a trait paralleling my desire to defend my House and City as well as my beliefs and ideas. The crossed rapiers, choice weapon of my fellow Bards, lend to the overall theme of defense and protection by invoking the concept of dueling, something done often to protect one's reputation and honour. These symbols, both images and colours, come together to form a Coat of Arms showcasing my definitive characteristics.
