The last few months have seen rifts that were perfectly content to
remain within the Bloodwood, but had started to spawn rabid demons into
the land. Most of them remained within the Bloodwood as well and
travelers were able to slay them and disrupt the rifts as normal.

However, the constant destruction of the rifts and the Aztob pushing
more and more into their rituals on the other side, caused the many
rabid demons to seek out new sources of essence - unleashing their wrath
on the unsuspecting world. Many remained in the Bloodwood still, feeding
on the forest's essence and exterminating the land beneath them. As
their numbers multiplied, it became clear that little would stop the
land from being cleared away.

One by one, the rifts gathered in the temple ruins - the only area that
had no exterminated ground left for them to stand. Upon the arrival of
all thirteen, Yetrent brought himself to perform his ritual. Calling
upon the Necromantic energies within himself, Aarbrok, Neoma, Infin, and
Catty - he performed a ritual that merged all of the rifts into one
large one. It was fairly unstable still, unfortunately, and summoned
many rabid demons all at once that overwhelmed the large crowd that had
gathered to witness the ritual.

After some time, the portal stabalized and became an entrance to a
forgotten land - the Shattered Vortex. Adventurers eagerly stepped
through the portal to find out why lies ahead - only to find an endless
battle between the Demonsbane Revolt and the Aztob Cult. What will come
next for those who have been stuck in the Vortex for over four hundred
years?
