As Lanosian 454 MA came and went, the battle against the endless incurion of spirits continued on into Niuran with no clear end in sight. The people of Sapience sought answers from across the world, but found little information to assuage their greatest fears and remained under the shadow of the ethereal palls that lingered across reality.

Still, the Kingbound of Dhar continued their dogged defense of the land alongside allies both erstwhile and steadfast alike, but there seemed to be little end in sight to the calamity that now befell Sapience.

Death drew ever closer.

A mass of seething palls rippled to life across the northern swathe of Sapience, spilling forth hundreds of raging spirits that struggled free of their shadowy prison deep within the Underhalls.

Abyssal monstrosities of meat and bone emerged first in the Dry Plains, laying low the Spirean defenders that stumbled upon them in a bloody show. Sickening palls rippled into existence as they fed upon the death that drenched the land, spreading steadily southward like a wildfire that left misery in their wake. As the battle drew on, a grim girl wielding a knife emerged from the palls and set upon the defenders of Enorian. She laid low many warriors, intoning that death would be their only escape from the Abyss that the Underking had long ago forged for them.

As confusion raged on amongst the defenders, the sky darkened and a multitude of cold, burning eyes opened within the firmament. Cloaked in a mantle of stardust and the darkness between the stars, an ever-shifting, many-armed, many-faced being strode forth with dark purpose across Sapience. Its crown scraped the heavens; limbs dusting the very snow-capped peaks of the Siroccians as it stooped low and brought a fist to bear against the land.

In wonderment or perhaps terror, the people of Sapience looked upon the being with fleeting gazes only to fall twitching in death to the ground as His consciousness brushed against their own as the baleful limb rose to strike the land.

Muadi, the Gatekeeper, had come.

Through stone, earth, and the veil of Creation itself, the Gatekeeper struck deep into the heart of the Underhalls, sundering the Abyss and bringing oblivion to the souls trapped within. A single scream, rending the void from within, harrowed the air as the Albedi god's manifestation faded from reality with a sibilant whisper.

What has befallen the Underking and 'His' endless Halls?

Penned by my hand on Gosday, the 15th of Niuran, in the year 454 MA.
