Influence

I loaded a change to influence. First I should recap how influence has
always functioned.

When you perform an influence attack, it has two stages. First is a
random roll to see if your target resists your influence, similar to how
warriors can sometimes miss with their weapons. This is affected by
prestige and a few other abilities like the skills in Dramatics. One
thing that differs from normal combat is that your target becomes better
and better at resisting an attack the longer you go at it. All of this
remains unchanged and is not part of this code update.

If an attack is successful then it does "damage" to your target's ego.
When you get his ego to zero then you win. There are other abilities
like the tattoos that modify the damage dealt. These abilities have been
modified to use the X/Y buff system. See BODYSCAN INFLUENCE. It's not
really a major change, just tweaking how we compute the offensive ego
damage buffs. Note that only the abilities like tattoos that affect
damage will be on the X/Y and thus be on BODYSCAN; the abilities like
dramatics that affect your success rate are not.

This also obsoletes the old influencing artifacts. We've released new
ones that give a wider range of buff levels than the old ones.

Penned by My hand on the 24th of Dioni, in the year 427 CE.
