Great House of Ladyn

What began as the unearthing of an old chest upon the Isle of Light
turned into something much more. The chest, and old iron thing covered
in sand and barnacles, was bound by six locks which took Carien the
better part of two months to unlock. Whether a ruse or the machinations
of time, the chest was fused shut, and Carien's work for naught. The
young Squire Aegisbier took his hammers to the chest, as breaking it
open was the only other alternative; but his blow was too much for the
aged chest and he destroyed both the chest and its contents, but those
gathered caught a quick glimpse of the ancient paladin armour seconds
before it was reduced to shards and splinters.

The gathered group of New Celestians concluded, based on the contents
and Carien's analysis of the age of the chest, that the armour must have
belonged to a paladin during what was known as the Blood Wars or
thereabouts. When they sought the council of the spectral paladins of
New Skarch, the McClouds learned not only the origin of the armour, but
of rumours to ties between the McClouds and the Ladyns. With a near
Hallifaxian-zeal, rumours were not enough for Kalliste McCloud as the
group sought the guidance of Supernal Japhiel, whom the spectral paladin
claimed knew the founder of the McCloud family in days of yore.

Even this was not enough, and it wasn't until months later when Sonahi
Ladyn, who had heard of these findings by word-of-mouth, spoke with
Princess Kaimanahi. Whatever words they spoke between each other, the
result was the McCloud family embracing the name of Ladyn.

Let it be known that from this day forth, the McClouds, descendants of
the Ladyn family, have resumed their former name!

Penned by My hand on the 18th of Vestian, in the year 416 CE.
