Iron Realms Poster Contest Winners
The contest is over, and we have our winners, enshrined here for posterity! We had hundreds of entries and choosing the best proved to be extremely difficult. I'd like to personally apologize to places 2-5 as well as to some unnamed others, I didn't really feel that any of the top 8 or 9 were substantially better or worse than the others. There were really some great entries, as I hope these make clear. There's a link after the winners that will take you to some other worthy entries. Enjoy!

Grand Prize: Imyrr, on Achaea.
Imyrr's photo was selected for the Grand Prize because of its extreme relevance to one of the IRE games - Achaea. The Garden of the Gods is where the Gods of Achaea live, and it was, whether Imyrr knew it or not, named after the very place depicted in this picture, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Tow's photo was selected because, well, castles are very Iron Realms and this is just a neat castle, called the "Palais de Popes" (Palace of Popes). Tow felt it could be the Chrysalis Basilica in Shallam, but in fact, it is in Avignon, France.
What can I say? A fire truck, a real fireman holding the sign, and one of the most famous and beautiful buildings in the world in the background - the Sydney Opera House. This speaks for itself.
This picture, by Marius, is taken from the top of the Hoover Dam - perhaps the most famous dam in the world. We liked the perspective here. Vertigo-inducing!
No, that's not the Parthenon in Greece that you're looking at: It's a full-sized replica located in Nashville, Tennessee. Had it been the real Parthenon, it probably would have gotten first, but alas, Aklinne is a monk and can't use wormholes, so was unable to travel to Greece.
Some Other Entries
I'm including a link here to some other entries. It's by no means exhaustive, as we had hundreds of entries, but these represent some of the better ones that didn't win. If you were left off, please don't take it personally! Enjoy the poster contest web gallery.
Contest Rules
For quite a while, we've gotten requests from people to make up posters that they can post around college campuses, internet cafes, and the like to advertise the Iron Realms games. Here they are! And to celebrate their creation, we're holding a contest to let you show off your dedication to Iron Realms. First prize is $1000!

Click on either poster to download/display
the full resolution poster. Just right-click and save from
there. Please be patient while they download. They are multiple
megs each so that printing resolution will be good.

Rules
- You must take a digital picture of the Iron Realms poster after it’s posted somewhere cool. In order to make it harder for people to cheat with Photoshop, we also require that there is a human hand touching the poster when the picture is taken. The poster has to be clearly visible and easily identifiable in the picture.
- Email the picture to poster-contest@ironrealms.com by February 20th at 11:59 pm, GMT. The email must come from your character's registered email address. No digital alteration of photos. We will severely punish anyone who tries to cheat by fooling us, up to and including permanent bans.
- The picture must be a .JPG and be no more than 500k in size. We will not accept anything but digital photos with those specifications!
- In your email, include:
- Your real name. (Must match your character's registration.) We will disqualify any entries that do not include the submitter's real information.
- Your date of birth. (Must match your character's registration.)
- Your character name and what game he/she is in. (if you have multiple, just include one). Remember: The email must come from this character's registered email address.
- Any extra info you’d like us to know about where it’s posted.
- We will judge based on:
- How ‘cool’ the posted location is. This is very subjective, of course.
- How populated the area is. (the more people that see it, the better).
- Quality of the photograph. (how clear it is, etc, rather than anything artistic.)
- In a hypothetical otherwise equal case, the color poster would beat the B&W poster.
- No more than three entries per person (not per character, per person).
- If you go to the trouble of putting the poster in a cool spot, try to get enough of the location in the picture that we can see it's a cool spot. If we can't tell from the photo itself (as opposed to a description of the photo you send) then we can't award it. In other words, if you put one on the Parthenon in Greece and took a close-up of it, all we would see is a poster on a wall, and would have no way of telling if it's actually on the Parthenon.
- Don't be stupid! Don't endanger yourself or break the law to get a picture please.
