Poetry News Post #4989

A fond farewell

Written by: Tearstorm Le'Yuet

The wind blows, and it takes me far away
Away upon the seas, where my heart belongs
Drawing me away from friends I've rarely seen
Stealing me into the mists of time, the hazy shades of grey

Slumbered long and deep, a year upon a year
Suddenly awake, the world was not the same
Always with one eye and one ear in the past
Clinging on to those I always held so dear

Bereft of home and legacy, a soul so torn apart
Stretched thin between the love and pride
Renown, repute, a burning fire deep within
And Nature's welfare ever kept closely at heart.

Yet finally, at peace to be, that is my desire
Forevermore, I sail to softer shores
A transient shadow is my name, nothing more
Loving those I touched has quenched the last of ire

I dream of walking through the grass
With comrades in green, young and old alike
A breath of air, a smile, a talk, holding hands
As memories do slowly, gently pass

My dearest, now, do not weep
For I am not really gone
As long as you keep me in your heart
My life will still go on.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Sarapin, in the year 704 AF.
