Parentage and research

Aldair.

You were brief with me, I'll be brief with you.

Perhaps in my haste, I did in fact focus on the more gentle aspects of love over the other aspects.

Because I see none of that from them unless you are willing to give them mindless unthinking obedience.

There is reprimanding ones children and instilling discipline, and then there is seeking to instill this very same vision of the perfect child in others children as well. Make no mistake, the Bloodsworn Gods are not my parents, and their seeming willingness to claim every mortal in creation as their beloved children speaks of an arrogance beyond words. Would they claim Lady Gaia's followers for their own as well? Lord Vastar's? M'lady Valnurana's? (Though I have yet to properly seek entrance beyond her pre-order, that is where my own allegiance to a divinity lies despite any assumptions that may have been made.)

If so, I would be very concerned at such an attempt to conquer all creation, and wonder just how that makes Targossas any better than Mhaldor in their single minded attempts to impose their rule upon the rest of the world and damn anyone elses opinion. Perhaps you have been ignoring a possible ally in them! To be honest though I have been known to indulge in wishful thinking on the matter, I find a world where good is wiped out and all seek chaos just as unfortunate as one in which chaos is (somehow) eliminated and good and light reign alone. Variety brings a spark to life that I fear those in Targossas and Mhaldor both already lack, or at least stifle to some degree.

Aodfionn.

Truly your accusations of murder on my part are news to me, and you seem to be implying that I personally seek to speed the end of creation. Whilst several of my colleagues are certainly Nihilists and make no secret of that fact, and I do not seek to slow it down, I myself am not a nihilist and have no goals regarding hastening the end either. Unlike Targossas, we are accepting of differing opinions and welcome such variety within our ranks. The strength of Ashtan is not because we are "evil" or "without restraint" but rather our acceptance of a variety of differing opinions, creeds, and doctrines without prejiduce. In Ashtan you can pay your homage to whomever you wish, should the divine accept you in return of course. Unity in variety, if you will. If you wish to look for evil on the other hand, please, look no further than Mhaldor, they seem perfectly willing to trumpet their evil to the skies.

Whilst I would not call the idea of me paying homage to Lord Babel character defemation despite its inaccuracy, indeed, I suppose I can take that as a compliment in some sense. I would thank you if you could keep insults such as calling me a spoiled childish murderer to yourself.

Such blind assumptions with no evidence do not help, and had you simply asked I would have been quite willing to be open about this. Though I suppose it does only help prove my point in regards to blind hatred, or at least disgust, that you cannot talk to me without making unwarranted assumptions regarding my character and goals.

"Just as the loving mother and father would confiscate a dangerous plaything in an effort to ensure their child lives long enough to become a worthwhile member of society, so too did our predecessors see fit to remove or destroy what the Occultists of the day were using to help hasten the end of our world.

They love you, and want you to grow, just as They love all mortals and want all living things to grow. Those artifacts were tools used by Occultists to stunt the growth of others and inhibit Creation; taking them away from you was the most loving decision that could have been made at the time."

Citation needed please. What proof do you have that the study of chaos hastens the end? Beyond hearsay of course. Chaos is already present within all of creation, in every living thing to gain the spark of life, every fine shield wrought by a smith, every river in creation... Everything. Has received at least in a small amount, Chaos. Your own race is descended in part from the humans and as such carries some small spark of Chaos as well even beyond that, though you may reject it. I fail to see the harm in learning about an integral element of creation, regardless of how long it has or has not been a part of it.

I would comment on the mother and father bit, but I already addressed it above.

I am also very interested in what you would then do to forestall the end, if your reaction to trying to learn more about it is, once again, burning our works and killing us. The complete and utter blinding lack of research on the subject is utterly astounding from those who would see it destroyed, in truth.

"They would rather see your soul saved than your body harmed, honestly. Because They seek to promote growth in all of us, They would be made far happier if you were to turn from wickedness, than be burned at the stake."

And yet they would still command the latter, and indeed it seems to be a first resort more often than not! Once more, I fail to see how willful ignorance of Chaos and its workings prevents or accomplishes anything. My apologies, but I cannot help a bit of hypocrisy on my part in regards to insults. You remind me of a child closing their eyes and plugging their ears, shouting at the top of your lungs 'I can't see you! I can't hear you! You don't exist!' just before they get run over by the cart, which really doesn't care for the child's opinion on the matter.

"Now, this is an important statement, because I think it fully illustrates the need for better education on the tenets of Good. It is not our goal to hate you, nor is hating you particularly in line with Their teachings. Perhaps you are unaware, but our first goal is always, always the deliverance of your spirit - if not to bring you into the Light, then to at least guide you away from all of the wickedness."

The fact that I have known devotionists over the years so fearful of excommunication that they refrain from giving me much more than the time of day in more neutral grounds such as Cyrene, save to tell me that they cannot be speaking to me... does not fill me with confidence regarding this statement. Nor do the statements of my somehow wicked nature. If you truly wished to "save" us so much, once again, you would not be coming at us with blades, you would talk with us, get to know us, perhaps even work together when the occasion warrants it. If your Bloodsworn gods relationship with you was based on love, rather than fear, I find it difficult to believe that they would need to make such threats against mere association.

That said, if you truly feel that my education on your creeds and doctrines is so lacking, at least compared to your rather clear actions and policies. Please do send me a few books on the subject, and I would be happy to peruse them. Visiting one of your libraries might be a bit difficult, considering the tendency of your guards to shoot first and ask questions never.
