What an interesting story

Archon Ascendant,

It seems that it is story time in the Seat of Chaos once again.

Although amusing to read, I would think the "scribes" or propaganda writers of Ashtan should know by now that whatever propaganda they attempt to spread, it will never manage to fully conceal the Truth of the matter from those who desire it. Bolstering confidence through lies creates only arrogance, which will be one's own undoing. Recruiting through those same lies at best wins you an army of confused slaves, not devoted followers.

The Truth is that in only seven years of living in Targossas, I have watched these same famed Generals you praise in your ranks cower in corners when the Targossian army comes to Ashtan's own gates. I have watched us triumph, just as I have watched us suffer losses. Such fluctuations are natural over time. Our own officers, like yours, are not always available for every battle.

As a fairly young Targossian myself, I cannot say I have ever visited our Council Chambers. I am sure our builders have already set to work on the repairs, but ultimately, a room is just a room. I have read tales of past terrors, of the drowning of an entire city, and yet what group of people rose from the ashes of such destruction? The strength of Targossas lies not in city infrastructure but in the hearts of its people. These are the same people who, while their primary military officers either slept or attended to matters on other planes, pulled together and ousted your greatest generals from their city even as those generals caused the destruction you send your scribes to boast of. Indeed, as the fires broke out, it was Ashtani blood that was pooling in our streets, not Targossian blood.

We have far less of a flair for drama than you, it seems, but in the end tales are only tales. In the end, Good will triumph because it is this realm's only salvation in the face of the forces seeking to destroy it. Whether by our own blades, or by the very powers you serve, you have only your own demise awaiting you should you remain on the path you are on.

In service to Light and Fire,

Farrah Roualt
Ensign
