Farethi - some misconceptions

I happened across some posters that had been discarded in the Temple of the Sky, purporting to be written by a citizen of Targossas. THere was a maker's mark, but I do not know whether that individual was responsible for the content, so I shall avoid throwing out accusations. Instead, if you'll forgive the indulgence, I shall attempt to rebutt some common misconceptions about Farethi, followers of Lord Vastar.

We are all familiar with the basics of the mythos, that in the beginning was nothing, and from nothing Ayar brought forth Creation and Chaos. Creation and Chaos are opposing forces. I myself have slighted Creation as being stagnation, a misunderstanding I willfully chose to believe and reinforce. It seems you are willing to do the same with Chaos, seeing it as no different to Oblivion.

To put it simply, Chaos in its purest form is potential. It animates our world in ways both small and large. Though many of the effects of Chaos can be seen in a negative light, it is neither malicious nor benevolent, creating with one hand and destroying with the other. Entropy and Discord are at work upon all things, these attributes form the only constant of Chaos -its ever-changing nature. Nothing touched by Chaos may remain the same. From this we learn that all things of form and structure are of Order, and all things fluid and changing are of Chaos.

To quote from one of these posters: "Nihilists and Farethi follow a philosophy whose ultimate goal is to destroy the world we live in."
My understanding of Nihilism is woefully inadequate, but my research has shown that Nihilists believe that Creation was brought forth from Primordial Chaos, it gave structure and form to that which was without. The forces of Chaos, as personified by Entropy and Discord, act upon Creation, transforming it, altering it, returning it to its mutable, formless state, the state of Oblivion. Nihilists accept this as inevitible.

Moving on to the Farethi, we follow the primal teachings of the Azatlan, worshipping the twin aspects of the Sky and the Storm. The Sky, simply put, is the unbound potential that we all possess. Some of us strive to achieve that potential, others are happy to stagnate. The Storm represents the change that we must all undergo as we fulfill our destinies. There is nothing in the teachings of the Azatlan that seeks to "destroy the world we live in". We accept that in order for us to achieve our potential, we must make certain sacrifices, but these sacrifices are willingly made. The Skylord has never asked that we destroy for the sake of destroying, but we accept that those who fail to prepare for the oncoming storm are those who are most at risk of being consumed by it.

The Skylord and the Lord of Oblivion are not paired in the same way as the Bloodsworn. They are distinct, as are the beliefs of Their followers.

If you wish to learn more about Lord Vastar, the Sky and the Storm, please feel free to visit the Temple of the Sky in the clouds above the Western Vashnars. Those who need a landmark can walk to Atoritha, Chaplain of the Silver Wing.

You are also welcome to approach me via whichever method you prefer.
