A Big Batch of Updates

Written by: Ieptix the Anomaly

Addressed to: Everyone

I've got a nice big batch of updates for y'all to play with! I'll be
updating relevant ab/help files over the next 12 or so hours; there will
be some that are out of date or unavailable until then. Fret not,
they'll be fixed and/or added! Anyhow, the "deets", as you kids say
nowadays:

- The effects of calcise and dendroxin have been removed. The poisons
remain so that new effects may be added as needed at a later date.
- Cavalier maul now has a requirement of two critically wounded limbs,
two heavily wounded limbs, and one limb with the mutilated affliction.
Only arms and legs are valid for these prerequisites.
- Cavalier guard will now attack a random limb, causing wounds.
- Discernment's assess no longer has a third-person message.
- The various WOUNDS commands no longer consume balance.
- I've added the ability for me to adjust knighthood damage vs. players
globally in-game. At present, I've set it to 85% of the coded values.
Damage against mobs is unaffected.
- The ice curing delay for critically wounded bodyparts and mutiltated
limbs has been increased to 3.5 seconds.
- The time it takes to writhe from basic weapon impales now scales with
gut wounds. Other impales are not affected.
- Wound values have been rescaled by a factor of 5. Light wounds still
kick in at 1 wound, but heavy wounds now start at 35 wounds, and
critical wounds at 75 wounds, with a max of 100 wounds per limb.
- 1h weapons now deal 5 wounds per hit.
- 2h weapons now deal 12 wounds per hit.
- Applying ice now cures 5 wounds per application.
- Bleeding from pureblade carve now scales up with wounds.
- Blademaster stab is now a one-handed modifier.
- Blademaster remiss may now deal up to two afflictions.
- Pyrotoxin will afflict with burns regardless of the frost defense,
though the amount will be decreased some if the defense is present.
- Blademaster haymaker now deals damage according to total wounds on the
target. The scale factor is 75 wounds (i.e. one minimal
critically-wounded limb) is equal to the damage from one additional
strike. At 0 wounds, the modifier deals double base damage, as it
requires the use of both arms.
- Bonecrusher pulp now deals damage scaling up with bruising. At 0
bruising, it will deal slightly more damage than a regular strike,
scaling up to approximately the same damage it dealt at 300 bruising
pre-changes, and continues scaling upward from there. Note that in my
previous post I mistakenly said pulp would scale according to wounds,
when it should have said bruising instead.
- Haymaker and pulp now both bypass the rune of absorption.
- Bruising given by abilities has been scaled up overall. Smashleg,
which was originally meant to have its bruising in particular increased
as well, is remaining unchanged for the moment to determine if the
overall increase in bruising will be sufficient. Smashleg may still be
adjusted if needed.
- Pureblade exsanguinate now requires only 1250 bleeding, but now also
requires the internalbleeding affliction. The wound requirement is
unchanged. The new pureblade mana-damage modifier is still on the table,
but I want to see if it'll still be necessary with the changes to
eviscerate before implementing.
- Discipline focusbody, focusmind, and focusspirit have been removed.
- Two new discipline abilities, focus and powerfocus, have been added.
- Beastmastery curing has been removed.
- A new beastmastery ability, focusing, has been added. The new focus
power requires 200 spirit trains.
- A new focusing mechanic has been added to slush, dust, and steam
curing. You may now attend to the consumption commands a focus type and
affliction, which will force the use of that cure to prioritize that
affliction. For example, EAT DUST FOCUS HAEMOPHILIA. Each focus type
requires the user to possess the appropriate ability, as well as having
its own unique prereqs and costs, as follows:
o FOCUS has no special prerequisites, but use of the ability will
increase the balance time of the cure by 50%.
o POWERFOCUS requires and consumes one active power.
o BEASTFOCUS requires a beast trained with the focus power, and also
requires and consumes beast balance.
- Telekinesis throatlock now deals anorexia.
- Telekinesis leglock has been removed.
- Effects in other skills that afflicted with throatlock now deal
anorexia. I'll be willing to change this to damagedthroat instead if the
relevant envoys prefer.
- Effects in other skills that afflicted with leglock now deal
damagedleftleg and damagedrightleg. As above, I'll be willing to adjust
this if needed.
- Timewarp is now cured by soothing steam. All uses of steam will cure
some timewarp, though the amount will be reduced if an affliction is
also cured. You may SMOKE STEAM TIMEWARP to cure only timewarp. At
present, this effect is not part of the new focus system for technical
reasons, but this may change in the future.
- Tempinsanity is now cured by lucidity slush. The mechanics for curing
are as above for steam and timewarp. You may SIP SLUSH TEMPINSANITY to
priotize insanity over afflictions.
- The amount of timewarp and tempinsanity per cure application has been
raised, accounting for the loss of focusmind.
- Slush balance has been lowered to 1 second to account for the loss of
focusmind.

Any numbers in relation to the above changes may be subject to further
adjustment so that we can work to find a good balance point for
everything.

The adjustments to burns, ablaze, shivering, freezing, and anerod from
my previous post are delayed due to technical issues in implementation.
I believe I've figured out how to solve the relevant problems (and, in
the case of burns in particular, come up with a much more elegant and
workable method for curing), but right now it is late at night and I
want to stop sitting on the above changes, so this last handful will be
released later this week.
