Subj: The Serpent-Priest

In the dead of night, a strangled cry was heard echoing across the Plains of Isbandia, deep in the Northlands. The moredhel warriors Agravain and Mallaidh rode forth from the hoary walls of Sar-Sargoth, and came upon Jarle, the fur trader, nursing his wounds in the nearby Firedrake Inn.

With a bit of coin to loosen his tongue, they discovered that he had discovered a hidden network of caverns in the sprawling canyons of the Ithilian Defile, and bet set upon by strange figures cowled in dark robes. The horror-stricken fur trader barely escaped with his life, though near death.

With this tale in hand, the dark elves rallied their kin, refusing to allow another power to intrude upon their territories and challenge the supremacy of the Dark Brotherhood. The witches of the North opened magical Rifts through space and the forces of the Dark Path searched the passages of the Defile for those who would challenge their might.

It was Mallaidh who unearthed the caverns, and the Dark Brothers and Sisters brought battle to the strange snake-like priests who lurked within. The battle took its toll on both sides, but the might of Sar-Sargoth crushed the serpent-priest who led these strange creatures, and plucked from his cold and mangled hands a strange snakehead medallion of twisted silver as their prize, which they immediately recognized as an artifact of some power.

Just what that power may be, and what these serpent-creatures portend for Midkemia, remains to be seen...
