Achaea Turns 29, the Mnemosyne Gets Seasons, and the Iron Carnival Has One Week Left
On This Page

Twenty-nine years is a long time for any game to stay open. Achaea hit that mark on September 9, and it’s handing out presents: type HAPPYBIRTHDAYACHAEA before the month ends and you get a bound credit prize and a full day of double experience. It only works once, so save it for a day you actually plan to play.
Achaea’s roguelike dungeon started its second season this month, and Aetolia’s coders shipped two dozen player requests in a single day. The Iron Carnival is down to its final week. A few of these things stop when the month does.
- September 26: Achaea’s birthday CTF.
- September 30: last day for the birthday command, the birthday daily quest, and Achaea’s bonus credit sale. The Iron Carnival closes the same day in all four games.
Achaea is 29, which makes it older than many of its players
The birthday celebrations follow the usual pattern. There’s a daily quest that lasts until the month ends, and a capture-the-flag match on the 26th.
The Great Hunt came first. It’s a 24-hour hunting contest split into three level tiers, and the results went up on September 20 with Gavai, Vostyr and Fenrik each taking 500 credits for winning theirs. This time the Mnemosyne counted toward it, so kills inside the dungeon scored points, and deeper ripples were worth more.
If you were planning to buy credits anyway, September is the month to do it: every credit purchase on achaea.com comes with 40% bonus credits, or 50% with Iron Elite. There’s also a Discord contest with prizes up to 1,000 credits for your funniest memory of Achaea.
Next September is the 30th. The birthday post already calls outdoing the Year 1000 celebrations “next year’s problem.”
The Mnemosyne has seasons now

The Mnemosyne Trials are Achaea’s roguelike dungeon. You wade in at the whirlpool in ancient Seleucar and collect boons on the way down, and the run ends when your lives run out. Season one closed on September 1. The top 50 runs moved to a permanent all-time board, with Aroan first, Cooper second and Thiev third. Cooper then placed second in the Great Hunt’s open tier less than three weeks later.
Season two gives you more control over the build. Wade stones steer the next boon offer toward a category, such as defence or your own class; you skip one across the river before the choice appears. BOON REROLL throws out an offer you don’t like, and you bank one reroll for every five ripples you clear.
Combo boons arrived on September 18. There are just under 50 of them, including one for each class, and you can never pick one directly. The game grants a combo boon the moment you hold every boon in its set. BOON CONTEMPLATE will confirm that a boon belongs to a combo, but it won’t say which combo or what else you need. The team published no list, so working them out is up to the players.
Players also designed boons of their own for a Discord contest. Lasyll’s Obligate Carnivore won the boon category and Ksha’s Sanctioned Wade won the affixes, 500 credits each. The team plans to reset the ladder every quarter from here, and its roadmap for the rest of 2026 lists a “Mnemosyne 2.0” for December that “may or may not feature the Gods in some way.”
Friendly murder, now with teammates

Achaea’s Dauntless arena queue used to be one against one. Since September 13 it also has a pairs queue, which builds two random teams from whoever is waiting. Per the announcement, “you can be partnered with your most loathed enemy just as easily as your most beloved ally.”
Tournament mode is the larger change. Standing teams of up to six register each rankings month and fight three against three in the tournament queue. Both formats have their own rankings, and when a season ends the top three in each go up in the Dauntless news.
Aetolia shipped two dozen of your ideas in a day

Aetolia’s players send the team ideas for the game, and on September 14 the team shipped 24 of them in a single day.
You can wear two scabbards now. Emotes that mention feet say hooves if you’re a Minotaur. Anyone with a bathtub can SCRUB in it, and TELLSOFF accepts a reason, for which the patch notes suggest “exterminating werecats.”
ABDICATE lets an officer step down from a city or guild post without calling a contest first. CITY REWARDS gives each city a ledger for its reward points, and since balances can go below zero, it’s now possible to owe your city. SPARE lets a fighter privately decide, for the next hour, that their next killing blow against a chosen opponent won’t land.
If you’ve made enemies of Xoral, there’s now a deposit box outside its southern entrance. Drop 10,000 gold in it and you’re off the enemy list.
Bards got their Hunting Tree in August, which continues the class-by-class hunting rework. The team is also close to finishing a rewritten newbie tour, with a different version for each city, and has asked for players who want to test it.
The Carnival leaves on the 30th
The Iron Carnival has been running in Achaea, Aetolia, Lusternia and Starmourn since August 1. Players in all four games decided together which attraction opened next. Aetolia even held a special edition of the Duel inside it, in a temporary arena full of traps, with Percivale hosting.
It all goes at the end of September. That leaves one week to stay on the bucking ram in the Menagerie, or to greet one of the phantasmal visitors from another world and have your emote echo back across the games. Our August post covers how the Carnival works.
After September
October brings a Mayaween bazaar to Achaea, and Aetolia turns 25 on October 7. Achaea’s roadmap has Mnemosyne 2.0 in December, plus the probable return of Ironbeard, last winter’s cross-game event, alongside Logosmas.
Achaea and Aetolia are both free to play in the browser through the Nexus client, so there’s nothing to download. Play Achaea or play Aetolia.
