How to choose the right game
The fastest way to narrow down the choice is to answer two questions: do you want a fantasy or sci-fi setting, and do you want an actively developed game or are you open to a legacy world? Those two filters alone will point most players to the right starting place.
| If you want… | Start with… |
| Active development, high fantasy, the largest community | Achaea |
| Active development, dark fantasy, vampires, gothic tone | Aetolia |
| Deep roleplay focus, aetherspace ships, cosmic lore | Lusternia (legacy) |
| Sci-fi setting, starships, original alien universe | Starmourn (legacy) |
| PvP-focused fantasy, existing character to continue | Imperian (legacy) |

What all Iron Realms games have in common
Despite the differences in setting and status, all five Iron Realms games share a common engine and design philosophy. Understanding those shared traits helps calibrate what to expect across the catalogue.
| Shared feature | What it means in practice |
| Text-based, no graphics | The world is rendered through descriptive prose. Players interact through text commands. No client download is required to play any of them. |
| Persistent world | Characters and events persist between sessions. History accumulates. Reputation matters over time. The world does not reset. |
| Player-run organizations | Cities, guilds, and factions are governed by players who were elected or appointed by other players. Staff does not manage day-to-day politics. |
| Deep class systems | Every game has ability-rich class mechanics that reward genuine study. PvP in particular requires understanding opponent capabilities, not just executing your own. |
| Free to play | All five games are free to create an account and play. Credit systems allow optional purchases for cosmetics and conveniences, not combat power. |
| Nexus client + mobile app | All five games run in any modern browser through the Nexus client. The Iron Realms Nexus mobile app is available on Android and iOS for all games. |
| Crafting economies | All five games have player-driven crafting and economies. Tradeskill goods are designed and produced by players and traded or sold to other players. |
