We've adjusted speedwalking a bit so that when you are walking a path that goes through water, the walking will not be delayed after you finish swimming. As soon as you finish swimming in a direction, you will immediately begin the next step of your path.

This should help you avoid all but the swiftest of river currents while speedwalking.
