The Arrow That Shot My Face

Taking in the morning air,
I looked around with not a care.
I stood still, people passed me by
I stared blankly at the endless sky.
The sound of chatter reached my ear
I shrugged it off, I would not hear
Drifting to an endless space
I came back when it hit my face.

A sharp arrow launched up high
found a target in my eye
before I pulled it from its place
another one stuck to my face.
Plucking them out in a hurry,
my vision soon became blurry,
I removed two from my coat
but a third punctured my throat.

Arrows were all over me,
in my ear and on my knee,
two hit my chest and left a lump,
and woe is me, one hit my rump.
One last one to end my pain,
and from this I'd go insane.
The moral from this wound to pride:
If you dally, do so inside.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Glacian, in the year 631 AF.
