A Poem of Dreams and Nightmares

a brush of grey feathers
a whisper in the night
heavy grow my eyelids
and then my dreams take flight

images of fam'ly
bloodlined or just held dear
soothe me as I slumber
but then nightmares draw near

I crest a mountain peak
a battle echoes round
a man in crimson fog
on plains of grey I'm bound

beams of light dance and shift
in underwater holes
as I gape in marvel
the water grips my soul

then I'm upon the clouds
with Sapience beneath
suddenly I'm falling
nothing under my feet

huntsman and his lover
greet with a simple kiss
then my cries interrupt
kaleidoscopic bliss

an all-female army
men blazing with fury
snakes that want to bite me
in food maggots bury

whether I am dreaming
or nightmares come to creep
I always feel safest
when I am fast asleep

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Ero, in the year 680 AF.
